Jamie tagged me earlier in the week.
The Rules: Each person starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to then report this on their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. They then need to tag 7 others and list their names on their blog. They are also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog.
These are my seven things.
1. I am one of thirteen children. Number six. Ten boys and three girls. Growing up in a large family was quite a trip.
2. I did reparative therapy for three years. From age 25 to about 28. I spent lots of time and money to not be gay. It didn’t work. Obviously… (Then I came out VERY slowly - starting with my parents of all people.) My father still thinks I just need to find the right girl.
3. When I was ten years old I was pulled into in a house and held there with a group of people including a younger brother by a man with a gun. There were more than ten men there who were stripping the house of everything of value. Literally tearing bookcases out of the wall. They made us lie on our stomachs. Then, when they were finished, they sped away in a big truck and we ran across the street to our parents.
4. I can sing the national anthems of the United States, Canada, Australia, and England. Not sure why I learned them all. Maybe it’s an Anglosphere thing.
5. My favorite teacher of all time was my seventh grade teacher. A nun. I’m talking an old school, full habit type nun. She was young and beautiful and I loved her dearly. I have kept in touch with her for the last 20+ years. On Friday I will be having lunch with her. This might seem not very unusual, but Friday will be the first time I will see her in normal clothing as she left the convent after about 30 years. All I ever saw were her face and her hands. I’m honestly a little scared of what my reaction might be.
6. I have been trying to learn Spanish since high school and despite the fact that I am surrounded by Spanish speakers and have been my entire life and despite the fact that I could count to ten in Spanish when I was four and I knew the basic colors and greetings, I have been unsuccessful in my attempt. I have no idea why. It makes me feel dumb.
7. I suffer from an obsessive loathing of my chin and neck. Hate, hate, HATE them both.
Now that I've bared my soul I am supposed to tag seven other people. Seven? Sheesh. Honestly, I won't hold it against anyone who doesn't respond. Not for long anyway. I'll go with six. Still waiting for Kevin's.
John of Average Gay Joe
Tess of Cranky Chick
Loz of Blah blah FlowersAlan of Recovery Beach (who bares his soul every time he posts)
David of Resurrection SongAndy of The World Wide Rant (He used to think I was a total retard, but I think I've won him over a little.)

Well, "total retard" might be a bit harsh, unless I used those words... although that sounds a little too offensive for my style. Now, "complete fucking idiot," oh yeah!
:)
Andy, I think we've both learned a lot from each other.
I'm surprised anyone responded, really. Thanks, Patrick. Now I won't be cursed (or something like that . . .)
And my father thought I would get "the cure" for years. He finally got over it. That was after the disowning and tearful arguments.
Wow.
I think you should list 7 more things.
Only 3 sisters? Those poor girls.
I working on it! Stop pushing me. ;-)
I'm trying to think of 7 interesting things about myself and when I do, I'll post them! :)
